Emilie Laferrière (she/they) is a queer lens-based artist born in Colombo, Sri Lanka now living and working in Tio’Tia:Ke/Mooniyang/Montreal.
Exploring themes of cultural, sexual and gender identity, their practice looks to create vulnerable, raw images that foster human connection and challenge common representations and depictions of the queer community.
Notable presentations of their work include Quartier des Spectacles (2021), Maison de la culture Janine Sutto (2022), Galerie Pierre-François Ouellet (2022), ARTCH (2023), FOFA Gallery (2024) and Le Livart (2024). They hold a BFA from Concordia University and a BBA from HEC Montreal.
